AGS File Manager : Standalone system to create, edit and check AGS format data files

In response to a number of organisations wishing to create or check AGS format data files, A F Howland Associates have produced a standalone package to allow the simple creation of data files or for checking existing or supplied files.

The system follows the same ease and efficiency of Howland’s popular GEOtechnical DAtabase SYstem, GEODASY. The data is entered onto purpose designed entry screens, which can determine the presence of entries in required fields. The AGS file is automatically created at the end of each entry cycle and can be closed or opened at a later date to amend or append further data.

The system will also check the underlying structure of supplied or existing AGS data file. This has particular benefit to organisations that receive data from other sources.

Howland’s have developed the system in response to a number of such organisations who have contacted them for an efficient creation or checking facility. Many of these have been amassing AGS data without the certainty that either the file conforms or that the contained data is correct. The new AGS File Manager allows simple validation of supplied disks. In this way errors can be addressed early and the disks returned to the issuing organisation for correction. Alternatively, the edit features of the system can be used to amend and correct the files.
