We’re delighted to announce the opening of a new office in Romford, marking an important step in expanding our capability to deliver high-quality site investigation, geotechnical design and assessment, and contamination assessment services across London and the South East. This investment marks the next phase in our continued growth and reflects our commitment to supporting clients and teams across the UK.
Purposefully located on the eastern edge of London, our new Romford office enhances our operational network, complementing the head office in Norfolk and regional base in Suffolk. The site positions us closer to major infrastructure and development projects across London, Essex, Kent, and the Home Counties, enabling faster mobilisation, improved responsiveness, and stronger collaboration with clients and partners. This location reinforces our ability to deliver local expertise and timely, data-driven solutions for complex ground engineering and environmental challenges.
“The opening of our Romford office marks an important milestone in our growth. It reinforces our commitment to being closer to our clients, supporting projects across London and the South East with faster response times, local expertise, and the same high standards of quality, safety, and technical excellence that define AFHA.” Karl Blanke, Managing Director at A F Howland Associates.
“I’m delighted to be establishing our London office. After 19 years of delivering cost-effective solutions across the UK, particularly in London and the South East, it’s an honour to lead this new chapter for AFHA. The company’s collaborative culture, commitment to professional development, and supportive leadership make it an inspiring place to work and grow alongside talented colleagues. Our team looks forward to working with clients and partners in the region to help deliver safer, more sustainable projects from the ground up.” Richard Biney, Associate Director, A F Howland Associates.
As part of the Celnor Group, AFHA benefits from a strong network of specialist companies across the built environment, safety, and compliance sectors. This collaborative approach enables shared expertise, innovation, and integrated support – helping us deliver greater value and service to our clients across the UK.
“AFHA continues to build on its well-earned reputation for technical quality and dependable service. The new Romford office strengthens its ability to support clients across London and the South East, and reflects the wider Celnor Group’s commitment to investing in our member businesses and empowering them to grow.” Simon Clennell-Jones, Managing Director – Built Environment at Celnor Group
Our new office represents more than an expansion, it’s an investment in people, proximity, and partnership, strengthening our nationwide presence and paving the way for further AFHA offices to come.
The office will be led by Richard Biney who joined AFHA earlier in 2025. To discuss how we can support your project, please reach out to Richard Biney, rbiney@howland.co.uk, 07421 468 905.
